Deadly Affairs Roy McKinney

ATL Homicide is a very popular show with two detectives, David Quinn & Vince Velazquez who putmurderers behind bars. In Season 1, episode 3 the murder of Shaquilla Weatherspoon is shown. It takes a minute, but Roy McKinney is charged with the crime.

Roy McKinney was ultimate convicted of of malice murder and child abuse for killing in front of their daughter. He was sentenced to life. He won an appeal and was convicted for a second time.

TV One describes this show as: To trained eyes, it appears as though Shaquilla Weatherspoon's killers staged the crime scene to make it look like a robbery; knowing better, Detectives Quinn and Velazquez investigate those closest to Weatherspoon to find the truth

His appeal includes (see link):
According to Appellant, Weatherspoon returned from Grady around 12:30 a.m., allowing him to get back into the apartment. She told him that she was going to a party at a co-worker's home and that she would not return that night because she would sleep at her mother's home, which was where their daughter was spending the night. Appellant argued with her, accusing her of going to meet a man. She then changed clothes while Appellant watched television. Weatherspoon left the apartment around 1:30 a.m. As she left, Appellant offered to help her with the bags she was carrying; she refused help, so Appellant told her to have a good time and did not go outside with her. That was the last time he saw or spoke to her. Appellant characterized his and Weatherspoon's relationship as “bizarre.” He admitted that there had been affairs on both sides and that they had split up several times, but he said that they stayed together for the sake of their daughter.

http://sugarbabies.co/?ref=1076

As the police investigated Weatherspoon's disappearance, evidence emerged that contradicted Appellant's story in several key aspects. The friend with whom Appellant had been drinking, Antonio Brown, confirmed that they sat outside together from about 7:00 p.m. until 11:30 p.m., although Brown said Appellant drank six or seven beers. During that time, however, Appellant did not say anything to Brown about being locked out of his apartment. Furthermore, Brown's and Appellant's stories about what happened after they parted ways differed. Brown said that he saw Appellant again between 1:00 and 1:30 a.m. standing outside by the apartment mailboxes. The next day, Appellant told Brown that he had been outside at that time because he was locked out of his apartment, even though Appellant told the police that Weatherspoon had returned and let him into the apartment by that time.

Ghosts of the Past Larry Compton

ATL Homicide is a very popular show with two detectives, David Quinn & Vince Velazquez who put murderers behind bars. In Season 1, episode 6 the murder of Jerry Heard is shown. It takes a minute, but Larry Compton is charged with the crime.

Larry Compton was convicted by a jury of murder and other crimes stemming from the shooting death of Jerry Heard

TV One describes this show as: Jerry Heard is found dead from gunshot wounds after flirting with two different women at the the local bar.

His appeal (see link) includes

Viewed in favor of the verdict, the evidence shows that Compton allowed his friend, Octavia Dobbs, to occupy a portion of a duplex apartment he owned on Smith Street.   The victim, Jerry Heard, wanted a relationship with Dobbs, but when she refused his advances he “tormented” her and threatened her.   Dobbs told Compton about the problem.   That evening, Heard showed up at the residence and began banging on Dobbs' door;  she refused to let him in.

After midnight, Dobbs heard gunshots in the backyard.   Compton came to Dobbs' apartment and told her he just shot someone in the backyard and to clear everyone out of her apartment.   Dobbs heard Heard calling her name, “like someone crazy.”   She thanked Compton because she was pleased to be rid of Heard.

http://sugarbabies.co/?ref=1076

Another witness heard a series of gunshots and then someone being beaten.   She was familiar with Heard and recognized his voice as he hollered, “You stomping me.   I've been shot.   You already done shot me.”   The witness saw Compton emerge from behind his residence with a gun in his hand.   He held the gun to the head of the witness, but then instructed her to leave the area.

A bystander recognized Compton's silhouette in the dark standing at the open trunk of a vehicle.
The next day, Heard was found dead in a trash heap in an alley on Springside Drive in Atlanta.   Death was caused by two fatal gunshot wounds to the neck and chest;  there was also blunt force trauma to the head.   Evidence at the scene suggested that Heard had been shot at another location and moved.

Cassandra Bryant and Willie Mizell

ATL Homicide is a very popular show with two
detectives, David Quinn & Vince Velazquez who put murderers behind bars. In Season 1, episode 8 the murder of Cassandra Bryant is shown. It takes a minute, but Willie Mizell is charged with the crime.

TV One describes this show as: Cassandra Bryant, 38, is found naked and barely clinging to life; she dies in the ambulance before identifying her attacker, leaving Quinn and Velazquez to find her killer.

His appeal (see link) includes:

On the day after the crimes, Mizell gave a statement to the police, in which he claimed that Stanley Brealand had borrowed his apartment and committed the murder.   Later that month, the lead investigator sent numerous items of evidence to the GBI crime lab, including the cigarette butts from the apartment and the dumpster, DNA samples from Mizell and Brealand, and a piece of carpet taken from Mizell's apartment.   On March 1, 2004, Mizell filed a general motion to preserve and permit testing of physical evidence.   Later in March, the GBI returned the evidence to the Atlanta Police Department, with the note that “[t]his case may contain evidence that must be preserved in accordance with OCGA § 17–5–56.” 1  In June 2004, Mizell filed a particularized motion to preserve and test physical evidence, specifically listing the two sets of cigarette butts.

http://sugarbabies.co/?ref=1076

In December 2004, apparently unaware that the cigarette butts were no longer in the possession of the GBI crime lab, the State obtained an order from the trial court directing the crime lab to conduct DNA testing of the dumpster cigarette butts.   The order noted that the “[t]he State contends that this evidence is material in its prosecution of this case.”   The crime lab, however, indicated that it no longer had the cigarette butts and that it would conduct the test upon receiving the butts from the State.

A few weeks later, on November 18, Robbins went to a house on Wadley Street in Atlanta. McKibbins and several of his associates—including Green, Earnest Lambert, and Raymond Lambert—were at the same house. Robbins eventually wound up in a back room of the house, where he was seen with a black eye, sitting on the floor in his underwear. McKibbins questioned Robbins about the missing cocaine, but Robbins denied that he had taken it. Robbins offered to help find the cocaine, and he said that he just wanted to go home.

That evening, Robbins briefly escaped from the house. A neighbor later said that she had been awakened in the night by the sound of someone banging on her back door and asking for help. She then heard a gunshot, saw McKibbins drag a man into the street, and saw McKibbins and Earnest Lambert put the man into an SUV. Two other neighbors gave similar reports, although they did not identify McKibbins specifically. Investigators eventually would find Robbins's blood in the street, as well as on a newspaper in the driveway of a neighbor.

After they put Robbins into the SUV, McKibbins and Earnest Lambert drove Robbins to a house in Riverdale. The next day, McKibbins called Green and asked him to bring food to the Riverdale house, and when Green arrived there, he found McKibbins, Raymond Lambert, and Dartantin Bailey. Green also saw Robbins, who was bloody and still in the SUV. McKibbins also summoned Shawn Sims to Riverdale, and when Sims arrived, McKibbins borrowed the keys to his car. McKibbins later returned the keys to Sims, and Sims was asked to drive his car to the home of McKibbins's sister, where McKibbins often spent the night. Sims did as he was asked, and when he arrived at the home of the sister, he heard Robbins—in the trunk of his car—yelling, “Let me out,” and “I didn't take it!”
